It folds shut, so the total is not on display to the next table, which is the main reason fine dining rooms prefer a folder to an open tray. The left side takes receipts up to 21 cm long. The right holds two cards in staggered pockets so the name on the lower card is readable without pulling it out. The spine is scored before the leather goes on, so it closes flat instead of bulging.
